LinkedIn is the world's largest professional social network where users build resume-like profiles, connect with peers, find jobs, share industry content, and grow their careers. Users can network, discover industry news, and gain skills, while employers can find candidates and promote their brand.

To sign up for LinkedIn, go to www.linkedin.com, select the Join now button, and enter your first and last name, email, and a password, or sign up with your Google or Apple ID. Follow the on-screen instructions to verify your email and complete your profile information, such as your location and most recent job title.

No, you do not need to have a LinkedIn profile to activate your LinkedIn Learning account. If you have a LinkedIn profile already, you have the option to choose to connect it to your LinkedIn Learning account.

Connecting your LinkedIn and LinkedIn Learning accounts allows for personalized course recommendations based on your professional profile, the automatic addition of course completion certificates to your LinkedIn profile, and the ability to share courses with your network.

LinkedIn Learning has a selection of video courses explaining how to use LinkedIn Learning for skills development and teaching. To get started, here are a few video courses we recommend:

Yes, and many people prefer to learn on-the-go. In the app/play store on your device, simply search for the ‘LinkedIn Learning’ app to download. We know that development happens in many ways:

  • On the job, through exposure to diverse projects and experiences that strengthen capabilities.
  • Through networks, where colleagues share knowledge and leading practices.
  • With mentoring, which provides encouragement, perspective, and guidance.
  • Complemented by formal training such as ULearn programs, the Academic Leadership Academy, and Continuing Education

To further expand these opportunities, we are excited to integrate LinkedIn Learning as a powerful tool that complements our existing development ecosystem.

UCalgary will not be able to see your browsing or job search activity on LinkedIn. LinkedIn Learning admins will be able to view data related to courses learners have completed on LinkedIn Learning and generate reports on aggregate user learning activity, such as the content that users are viewing and completing.

Your data will be kept secure the same way LinkedIn keeps its own data secure. LinkedIn Learning employs the highest encryption standards and strictest security practices to keep your data safe. LinkedIn is also fully GDPR compliant.
