AUPE In-scope Supervision
In-scope supervision refers to the oversight of one or more AUPE employees by another member of the bargaining unit as defined and formalized by management.
While there is no exact description of what an in-scope supervisor at the University of Calgary will do, duties may include but are not limited to:
- Task delegation.
- Providing instruction and/or on-the-job training.
- Monitor quantity and quality of work.
- Clearly communicate required work.
- Communicate updates that may impact work assignments or projects.
- Mentor and coach.
- Liaise with management.
At no time are AUPE in-scope supervisors permitted to:
- Perform mid-year or annual performance evaluations.
- View employee salary information.
- Approve salary adjustments.
- Approve exception time.
- Hire or promote.
- Investigate misconduct.
- Discipline.
- Terminate.
- Represent management in grievance processes.
