Move-in During School Year

If you are moving into residence outside of the main fall move-in dates, you will need to check-in at the Campus Service Centre during office hours. If you are arriving outside of office hours, please contact the Campus Service Centre to see if there is availability for after hours check-in.

Make sure that the Campus Service Centre is aware of your move-in date, so they are able to check you in properly. To make your check-in smooth:

  • Make sure you have signed your Residence Agreement, through your Resident Portal. 
  • You have photo ID

Once you have moved in, make sure to read the Now What Guide, to help you figure out your new home.

Fall Move-in August 28 - September 6, 2021

Move-in 2021 will begin on Saturday, August 28, 2021.

You will be able to find information below on how to move-in for the upcoming fall term. If you have any questions please reach out to the Campus Service Centre.

 

  1. Log into your Resident Portal and sign your residence agreement
  2. You can move-in anytime during Campus Service Centre office hours. You do not need to sign up for a move-in date/time.
  3. Arrive at the Campus Service Centre located in International House, 169 University Gate NW. 
  4. When inside show your UCID to receive your move-in package which includes your residence keys and Unicard (if submitted prior to Aug 20).
  5. Proceed to your building to unload your personal items.
  6. Once your belongings have been unloaded and need to park, you will need to move your vehicle to a paid parking lot, unless you have a parking pass.

Campfire & PALS Animals

  • Monday August 30th @ 7:30pm
  • Courtyard between Aurora Hall/Kananaskis Hall/Dining Centre 
  • Join us and a group of PALS certified dogs outside to enjoy a relaxing outdoor campfire. Come with your student leaders, community, and new friends to enjoy some smores and dog cuddles. 

Outdoor Movie Night 

  • Wednesday September 1st @ 7:00pm & 9:30pm 
  • Courtyard between Aurora Hall/Kananaskis Hall/Dining Centre 
  • Ever imagined a 30ft tall movie screen on campus, alongside delicious food trucks, exclusively for residence students? Join us on September 1st for a double feature movie event (attend one, or both!). 
  • The 7:00pm movie is Moana, and the 9:30pm movie is Ferris Buellers Day Off. The food trucks are Calgary's famous Perogy Boys & Mini Donuts. 

Pizza & Outdoor Activity Night 

  • Friday September 3rd @ 7:00pm 
  • Courtyard between Aurora Hall/Kananaskis Hall/Dining Centre 
  • Join us for a night of free pizza, assorted Coca-Cola beverages, lawn games, painting, trivia etc. We will also be raffling off ten $25 Uber Eats gift cards, and various other prizes to those in attendance. 

Residence @ The Stampeders vs. Edmonton Elks 

  • Monday September 6th @ 2:30pm 
  • McMahon Stadium 
  • The Stampeders are partnering with UCalgary Residence to send Residence students to the Stampeders football game against the Edmonton Elks (our biggest rival!). The first 150 residence students that arrive at this location will receive a free ticket. Everyone else, including other UCalgary students, can purchase a $15 ticket at the box office. All students who get a free ticket, or who purchase a $15 ticket on game day will be seated in the same section. See you there! 

Welcome Home Dinner 

  • Monday September 6th @ 4:00pm - 8:00 pm
  • The Landing 
  • Join us for a free dinner at The Landing hosted by Residence Services & Aramark - come with your community! Open to all residents - you do not need to have a meal plan. 

All parents residents are invited to a parent information zoom session. Senior university administrators will present on what to expect during your student’s first year on campus. There will also be time for you to answer any questions you might have about move-in or your students time in residence.

Winter, Spring/Summer and Family Housing Move-ins

Three easy steps to moving in to Residence:

  1. Pick up your move-in package
    Pick up your move-in package and room keys at the Campus Service Centre located in International House. Photo ID is required. Temporary parking is available in the loop in front of the building.

  2. Move into your new home
    Moving carts are available at the Campus Service Centre to help you.
  3. Get to know your new neighbours

Residents can move into Varsity Courts on the first day of the first tenancy month. All documentation must be complete before keys will be issued.

1. Sign tenancy agreement

2. Provide proof of tenancy insurance in good order

3. Provide proof of marriage or common-law status in good order (if applicable)

4. Pay fees

5. Move-in inspection
