Move-in Details

Fall move-in day is Sept. 1, 2019

Fall Move-in

Each year, more than 400 staff and student volunteers welcome over 1,700 students to their new home during the annual September move-in day. Move-in day is held each year on the Labour Day weekend. Staff from Residence Services, the Unicard office, and several other campus services offices are on hand to accept tuition payments and answer questions about meal plans, classes, and other student services.

1. Know your move-in time

Your assigned move-in time depends on which floor you are moving into. You can find the floor number by looking at the first digit of your room number. If you show up for the wrong time, you will have to leave and return at the appropriate move-in time.

Students moving onto even-numbered floors in Rundle, Kananaskis, Yamnuska, Olympus, Cascade, Glacier, or Aurora Halls (room number begins with 0, 2, 4, 6) and Crowsnest Hall (room number begins with 02, 04, 06, 08, 10) will move in from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Students moving onto odd-numbered floors in Rundle, Kananaskis, Yamnuska, Olympus, Cascade, Glacier, or Aurora Halls (room number begins with 1, 3, 5, 7) and Crowsnest Hall (room number begins with 02, 04, 06, 08, 10) will move in from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

2. Arrive at the staging area

McMahon Stadium will be the staging area for all residents. You need to arrive at McMahon Stadium off of University Drive NW. There will be room for your vehicle in the staging lot only during your allotted arrival time. If you arrive before or after, park at another campus lot. If you are arriving by taxi or foot, please proceed directly to your building.

Crowsnest Hall residents can go directly to Crowsnest Hall to check-in during their move-in time. They are not required to go to the staging area.

3. Get an unloading permit and drive to your unloading zone

At your staging area, you will receive an unloading permit and be directed to park in a specific parking spot. When directed to do so, follow the signs to the unloading zone. Once there, you will be required to provide your unloading permit to the traffic personnel.

4. Check in and unload

Follow the signs to your check-in point. You need photo ID to pick up your check-in package, which includes your room key, laundry card, Unicard (for those who submitted photos online), and parking permit (for those that purchased) will be waiting for you. Relocation technicians will help you move your personal belongings.

5. Park

Once you have finished unloading, you will need to move your vehicle to one of the other campus parking lots. There will be free parking at lots 59, 12, and the Arts Parkade for the day.
