Required Actions

1. Register:

• on the UCalgary Travel Registration system.
• with the Government of Canada or your country of passport.

2. Review:

• the Government of Canada Travel Advice and Advisories for the country you are visiting, including reviewing the Entry/Exit requirements tab
• the International SOS Covid Trip Planner or through the mobile app, #4 below)
• the WHO COVID-19 Case Count Trackers related to the country you are visiting

3. If doing fieldwork outside urban areas, follow all requirements as outlined in the Field Safety Standard and submit completed field safety documentation to Department Head or Designate for review and approval.

4. Download the International SOS mobile app on your mobile device.

5. Ensure that:

• you have health coverage that will extend to cover any COVID-19 related illnesses while traveling.
• you have either purchased travel insurance that would cover quarantine and trip interruption costs or that you have adequate personal funds available to manage those costs should they arise.

1. Upload your travel itinerary to Travel Registration System.

3. Complete an international travel briefing from UCalgary International Study Abroad. Email: study.abroad@ucalgary.ca

NOTE:  The University will not provide funding for costs related to graduate student travel including, but not limited to, COVID-19 testing or quarantine requirements, accommodation (including extension or cancellation fees), travel costs (including any escalation or costs to return to Canada), loss of non-refundable fees, health care or emergency expenses, etc. unless they are accessing external research funds which allow for such expenditures.
