FACULTY OF GRADUATE STUDIES

Biography

After completing a Bachelor of Science in physics at the University of Calgary, Matthew continued the nanophotonics research as a PhD student. During his graduate career, he developed nanofabrication techniques for building devices out of lab-grown diamonds. These techniques have been adopted by researchers around the world and have put Calgary at the forefront of diamond photonics research. He also co-founded the UCalgary nanoGroup, a student-run organization that cultivates collaboration within the nanotechnology community on campus. Matthew is currently a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of British Columbia.
