Biography

"Find the best in everyone."

Cleo spent most of her childhood living in Australia, where she traveled often into many parts of South East Asia with her dad for his job as an Archeologist. She spent the past 10 years growing up in a diverse neighborhood of Chicago. Exposed to many diversities of life, Cleo found her passion in domestic violence prevention and women's rights advocacy. She has used these skills she has learned in high school to bring them to the University of Calgary Women's Resource Centre where she has been a peer helper since her first year.

Cleo has a passion for psychology and more specifically Neuroscience. She came to University of Calgary for the behavioral sciences programs offered and has loved every second of it.

She recently was awarded a studentship and a work position at the OWERKO Developmental Psychobiology Lab under Professor Gerry Giesbrecht. She is conducting her own research and writing a publication on investigating if Heart Rate Variability is a biomarker for children's test performance and IQ test results. She will be presenting her results at the Alberta Children's Health Research Institute symposium.

She spends her free time hiking, reading, and being a lifeguard!
