What makes a transcript official?

Official transcripts are documents sent directly to the admissions office from institutions maintaining such records, such as the Department of Education.

Alberta institutions

If you have attended a high school or post-secondary institution in Alberta, that participates in ApplyAlberta, the University of Calgary will obtain your transcripts on your behalf. There is no need to send them to us.

If you attend a non-semestered high school (linear) or have taken non-semestered (linear) courses, you will need to arrange for your school to send us your interim grades by March 15. Your school can send via email to transcripts@ucalgary.ca

British Columbia high schools

You can upload transcripts directly to your student centre. Transcripts can be uploaded each time there is a final grade updated on your transcript (or in December and March for students in non-semester (linear) schools).

Official transcripts must also be requested through the BC Ministry of Education’s website. Once submitted, we will receive your official transcripts electronically in January, May and July.

Ontario high schools

You can upload transcripts directly to your student centre. Transcripts can be uploaded each time there is a final grade updated on your transcript.

If you have an Ontario Universities Application (OUAC) reference number, you must send the OUAC number along with your University of Calgary UCID to our admissions office. Once submitted, we will request your official transcripts on your behalf.

All other Canadian and international institutions

You can upload unofficial transcripts directly to your student centre to begin the admission review process. Transcripts can be uploaded each time there is a final grade updated on your transcript. Official transcripts must also be sent from have your school or government agency directly to the Admissions Office before the final transcript deadlines noted above.

Final Transcript Deadlines

Ensure your final official transcripts are received by the following dates:

Transfer students:                June 1

High school students:          August 1

Please note:
Transcripts received by the admissions office become the property of the University of Calgary and cannot be returned. If you require the originals to be returned, please contact us for assistance.
