How to apply

Review the processes below to help you prepare to apply, complete the application process (between Oct. 1 to March 1) and find out what you can do while your application is being reviewed.

  1. Choose your first-choice and second-choice programs

    Discover programs that interest you, and identify your top two program choices.

  2. Check your admission requirements

    Check the admission requirements for both programs. Choose a program with a lower competitive admission average as your second choice.

  3. Complete your online application based on your most recent studies

    Using the tabs below, select either "Studied in Canada" or "Studied outside of Canada" for undergraduate admission. If you're not applying to a degree program, select "Open Studies." Then, follow the steps to apply.

  4. Review the checklist of items required in addition to your application

    Log in to your MyUCalgary account to review your Student Centre checklist. Common checklist items include paying your application fee English language proficiency requirements, transcripts and supplementary documents required.

Steps to Apply

Using the tabs below, select "Studied in Canada," or "Studied outside of Canada" and follow the steps to apply.

Follow these steps to complete your application

  1. Create an ApplyAlberta account

    Beginning Oct. 1, you can start your application on the ApplyAlberta website, complete your profile, and select the "University of Calgary."

  2. Create or enter your eID

    As part of the application, you'll be asked to enter or create your UCalgary eID.

  3. Complete your application

    Use our application guide to help you with your application.

  4. Submit your application

    You must submit your UCalgary application for review, and select a way to pay your $125 application fee.

  5. Submit required documents

    Based on your application, we'll let you know how and where to submit any required documents. Visit our documents page for more information.

Follow these steps to complete your application

  1. Start your application

    On Oct. 1, you can start your application. Begin by creating a UCalgary eID.Go to my.ucalgary.ca and use the create eID link.
     

  2. Complete your application

    In your UCalgary application, review and update personal and academic information. Use our application guide to help you with your application.

     

  3. Submit your application

    You must submit your application for review, and select a way to pay your $145 application fee. 

  4. Submit required documents

    Based on your application, we'll let you know how and where to submit any required documents. Visit our documents page for more information.

Supporting documents

If you’ve studied in Alberta, the University of Calgary will obtain transcripts on your behalf from the Ministry of Education.

If you’ve studied outside Alberta, it’s your responsibility to request transcripts from any non-Alberta institutions to be sent to directly to the university’s admissions office.
