Seymour Schulich Academic Excellence Entrance Scholarship for Calgary Area Residents

Biography
I graduated from Chestermere High School in Chestermere, Alberta. Some of my greatest accomplishments in high school include receiving the Highest Academic Achievement Award in Grade 10, 11, and 12, being named Valedictorian of my graduating class, and earning a place on the Honor Roll throughout high school. I also received the Governor General's Academic Medal which recognized my dedication to academic success and continuous learning. These accomplishments taught me the value of perseverance, discipline, and a love for learning. For me it was not just about the grades but rather pushing my own boundaries, staying strong in the face of challenges, and developing a strong work ethic that I will carry with me throughout my journey in post-secondary. Beyond academics, I found fulfillment in volunteering in my community and fostering a passion for reading and writing in young children. My journey to the University of Calgary has been shaped by these experiences and I am very excited to continue my academic and personal growth in the Schulich School of Engineering. I look forward to embracing new challenges, contributing to the community on campus, and making the most of the opportunities that lie ahead.
Ever since I was a young girl I have been fascinated by science, problem-solving, and innovation, which naturally led me to want to pursue Chemical Engineering at the University of Calgary. I was drawn to this field because of its applications in areas that have a profound impact on society such as pharmaceuticals, energy, and environmental sustainability. During my undergraduate study I am looking forward to gaining hands-on experience in engineering principles, laboratory research, and process design. I am eager to explore how concepts like thermodynamics and material properties translate into industrial applications. I am also excited to collaborate with my professors and peers to solve complex engineering problems and contribute to innovative projects. One area of research that particularly interests me is renewable energy and sustainable materials. I hope to explore advancements in green engineering through carbon capture technologies, waste-to-energy solutions, and biofuels. The increasing demand for environmentally responsible solutions motivates me to join the next generation of engineers striving to create a more sustainable future. I look forward to being part of a dynamic engineering community where I can challenge myself, contribute to meaningful projects, and prepare for a career that blends innovation with impact.
After graduating with a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Calgary I hope to build a career where I can apply my knowledge to solve modern-day challenges in sustainability, energy, and advanced materials. My ultimate goal is to work in industries that focus on renewable energy, clean technology, or materials engineering, so I can contribute to innovative solutions that drive sustainability and efficiency. In the short term after graduation I plan to gain industry experience through internships and co-op opportunities, working with companies that specialize in process engineering, energy solutions, or chemical manufacturing. This hands on experience will help me gain leadership skills, technical expertise, and a strong professional network. Ultimately my goal is to be at the forefront of engineering solutions that create a more sustainable and efficient future. I plan to use my chemical engineering background to drive meaningful change and contributing to a world that balances innovation with environmental responsibility.
Every achievement I have earned is a reflection of my grandparents unwavering support. I am so very grateful for my nana ji and nani ji who have been my greatest teachers. There resilience, hard work, and sacrifices have paved the way for my success.
