Benjamin had graduated from Holy Trinity Academy in Okotoks, Alta. During his high school years, his top three achievements were being a captain and leading their football team to their first ever provincial championship in his school's history, maintaining Honors with Highest Distinction (an average of 90 per cent or higher) through all three years while participating in multiple extracurricular activities, and receiving the Commissioner's Award for their football conference recognizing excellence as both a player on the field and off the field academically.

He chose to attend the University of Calgary because he was attracted by their forward-thinking approach, significant funding, and research in areas such as mechatronics and other groundbreaking advancements. Additionally, he was drawn in by the sense of community throughout the school which encourages curiosity, problem solving and connecting with new people.

This award will alleviate the financial concerns he had going into his post-secondary education. This allows him to allocate more of his time to his schoolwork, as well as other activities that will make him a more well-rounded member of our community. He is very thankful and extremely honored to have received this award and is excited to add to the student body which makes the University of Calgary so great.
