Biography

Lucy graduated from David Thompson Secondary School in Invermere, BC. While there, she earned the top spot on the honour roll from grades 8 to 12. She also received her Advanced Scuba Diver certification, which was awarded to her for her dedication to scuba. She also realized a dream of hers which was summiting Mt. Kilimanjaro, which taught her that anything can be accomplished one step at a time.

Attending UCalgary has been Lucy’s dream since she started to prepare for post-secondary while in her eighth-grade year. While touring the campus, she was inspired by the beauty as well as being linked to the city of Calgary. She is also excited about the proximity to the great, outdoor, 4-season recreation available to her. For Lucy, choosing UCalgary was easy because of its unparalleled reputation in research and the bright students it attracts (who are now her peers!). She has worked very hard throughout her academic career to attend UCalgary and study what captivates her.

Lucy is enrolled in the Bachelor of Commerce – Business program. This was an obvious choice for her due to her love for business, which grew when she started her first business, selling used, high-send sneakers that she restored and marketed via Kijiji.

Lucy has a passion for skiing, and she is excited to enter the ski industry after she finishes her studies at UCalgary. She hopes to one day become the President/CEO of a favoured ski resort or own a heli-skiing operation.

Lucy finds that being a Prestige Award recipient has already opened door to many opportunities and connections for her by allowing her to network with like-minded, aspiring, and high-achieving fellow award winners. It will also propel her into future accomplishments.

Although Lucy doesn’t have exact topics she wants to focus on, she is excited to learn more about the “ins and outs” of how to run a business. She prides herself on her leadership abilities and can’t wait to equip herself with the skills needed to become a successful business owner, student, and overall person during her undergraduate studies at Haskayne.

Lucy looks forward to working with her helpful professors and bright peers to broaden her horizons.
