Biography

Aili graduated from Canmore Collegiate High School in Canmore, AB. While there, she achieved honors all four years, was team captain for the volleyball team for three years, and she co-founded a youth empowerment and peer support group to foster a more inclusive, supporting, and welcoming high school environment.

Growing up in Canmore, Aili developed a love for nature and the mountains. She chose to study at UCalgary so that she could be close to home, and so she could visit her hometown at any time. Additionally, she was drawn to the Schulich School of Engineering and the clubs and groups within it. She has always had a passion for engineering cars, specifically in the advancement of self-driving capabilities. Knowing that UCalgary had some courses in that realm is what drove her interest in attending.

Aili is enrolled in the Bachelor of Science – Engineering program. She chose this program because of her love for science, entrepreneurship, and the advancement of automotive technology.

Aili hopes to one day be a Formula 1 engineer. She hopes to gain a general understanding of the field before moving into something specific.

For Aili, the Prestige Award has shown her the value of hard work and dedication, even when it seems hopeless. She feels that UCalgary saw her potential and put value in the work she did during high school

Aili is interested in learning about garnering a sustainable future through engineering initiatives like improving water quality in Indigenous communities, building more sustainable and walkable cities, and improving green energy accessibility.
