Winter 2022 Welcome Back Grant

The Winter 2022 Welcome Back Grant can assist full-time UCalgary students who have experienced unexpected financial strain due to the return to in-person studies that began on February 28, 2022. This could include accrued travel, relocation, or exceptional living costs. Students must be enrolled in a winter 2022 course-based program that has a minimum of one course with an in-person course component. Students will need to provide documentation supporting the financial impact.


Eligibility

  • Must be a full-time student (undergraduate or graduate)
  • Must be currently registered in at least one winter 2022 course with an in-person course component
  • Must have experienced unexpected financial strain due to the return to in-person studies that began on February 28, 2022 (proof/documentation will be required)

Funding amounts

The amount will be determined on a case-by-case basis according to the expenses included in each student’s grant application. In each situation, the grant is intended to cover a portion, not the entirety, of expenses incurred due to the return to in-person learning.

Deadline

Students must apply by Wednesday, March 16, 2022.

How to apply

The application for the Winter 2022 Welcome back Grant is now open.

You can apply for this grant online by signing in to your Student Centre and selecting “Winter 2022 Welcome Back Grant” under “My Financials” in the footer.

Notification

Winter 2022 Welcome back Grant applicants who meet the requirements will be notified of the results of their applications by April 4, 2022. Notification will be sent to each recipient’s University of Calgary email address.

Receiving Award Payment

Funds will not be applied to tuition and fees, but will be disbursed directly to students on April 25, 2022. The funds will be transferred to students by direct deposit using the banking information students have entered in their Student Centre.
