Service offerings during COVID-19
To help prevent the spread of COVID-19, Student Wellness Services is offering virtual appointments and limited in-person appointments. In order to reduce exposure within the clinic, please call 403.210.9355 or use our online booking system to book a medical appointment. For mental health support, please submit a request online. If you're experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms please call us to rebook your appointment.

Incoming medical and nursing students
Health science program immunization consultation:
Please call 403.210.9355 and ask for an immunization consult appointment. Full information regarding COVID precautions and instructions for the appointment will be provided when booking.
UCalgary students: virtual, telephone and in-person appointments are available. Call 403.210.9355 or make an appointment booking online.
Same-day urgent appointments are also available. To book, please call 403.210.9355. You’ll speak with a nurse who’ll determine if your concern needs to be addressed at an in-person or virtual appointment.
For all virtual appointments, you’ll receive an appointment within an a.m. or p.m. timeframe (appointments don’t have specific times). This means the physician will call you between either 9 a.m. and noon, or noon to 4:30 p.m. on the day of your appointment. Selected evenings may be available.
Out-of-province students: You must make an in-person appointment and bring your out-of-province health card with you.
If you’re a Quebec resident, you’ll need to pay for your service and arrange for reimbursement through Quebec Health Care.
UCalgary staff and faculty: If you have an urgent concern, call 403.210.9355 to arrange an in-person or phone appointment.

Services for faculty, staff and postdoctoral scholars
Our chiropractic, massage, and walk-in clinic services are available to faculty, staff and postdoctoral scholars.
UCalgary employees can also visit Staff Wellness and WellBeing and WorkLife for available health and wellness services.

Please arrive 10 minutes early for your appointment to fill out any forms. Bring your identification, provincial health care card, and any extended insurance coverage.
Please do not enter the clinic more than five minutes prior to your appointment due to COVID-19 precautions.

Cancellation policy
To ensure we can respond to all requests for appointments and to avoid fees, please give one full business days’ notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment. All missed appointments will now be subject to a no-show fee.

Forms and fees
You can download and fill out intake forms before your appointment.
Most of our medical and mental health services are covered by provincial health care.
Nutrition, massage and chiropractic appointments have reasonable fees.
Any uninsured services (sick note, third party medical, etc.) also have fees.
Our clinic accepts Visa, Mastercard, debit and cheque as forms of payment.
Students without valid medical insurance can still access services, such as psychiatry, for a fee.

Student health plans
Undergraduate students are automatically enrolled in the health and dental plan through the Students’ Union.
Graduate students have their health and dental plan through the Graduate Students’ Union.
International UCalgary students should verify they have valid medical insurance.
Out-of-province billings are not permitted for virtual care visits unless you are a Northwest Territories resident. Please seek in-person medical care in your local area if you live outside of Alberta.
If you’re a Quebec resident, you’ll need to pay for your service and arrange for reimbursement through Quebec Health Care.

Helping myself
We all need support. There are on- and off-campus services that can provide you with the support you need no matter what challenges you’re facing.

Responding with care and concern is the best way to help someone deal with challenges causing them distress.
24/7 support
If you call after hours, you can talk to a crisis counsellor from Wood’s Homes, or a highly trained volunteer at the Distress Centre (available in more than 200 languages). Call 403-210-9355.
