The Faculty of Arts is mourning the loss of Derald Smith, a professor emeritus of geography, who passed away June 18 on his 75th birthday. A private celebration of Smith’s life will be held July 27.

Serge Zaitzeff, professor emeritus from the Department of French, Italian and Spanish, passed away June 12. In memory of Zaitzeff a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.

The Canadian flag may be half-masted as a sign of mourning for a member of the University of Calgary community. As well, memoriams may be posted on the university's website. Please send the memorial information and photo to
