Documents and transcripts

Official transcripts are documents sent directly to our admissions office from the Department of Education and/or other institutions maintaining such records.

What makes a transcript official?

Unofficial (uploaded) transcripts can be used for an admission evaluation.

Official transcripts must be sent from your school or government agency directly to the Admissions Office before the final transcript deadlines to finalize your admission offer.

Official transcripts are documents sent directly to the admissions office from institutions maintaining such records, such as the Department of Education. Official transcripts can be mailed or sent electronically through certain secure electronic delivery services, such as Parchment, e-Script-Safe, MyCreds or National Student Clearinghouse.

Please note: Transcripts received by the admissions office become the property of the University of Calgary and can't be returned. If you require the originals to be returned, please contact us for assistance.

Uploading your transcripts

Log in to your Student Centre to view details on required documents and deadlines specific to your application.

For uploaded documents to be used for admission evaluation they need to include your full name, the full name of the school attended, dates of attendance, all courses and credit hours taken (including transfer credit (if applicable)) and the date of issue.

Please note that we cannot accept screenshots of your student portal for evaluation purposes.

As a result of COVID 19, we recognize that school boards/education systems have taken a variety of approaches to the high school semester structure (quad-semester, octo-semester, regular semester). To ensure a consistent and equitable process across the different semester structures being used this year, the University of Calgary will accept transcripts for admission evaluation following traditional semester timelines:

  • Grade 11 as soon as you apply

  • February for any courses completed between September and January

  • July for courses completed between February and June.

Students in a non-semestered or linear school will be able to submit interim/predicted grades as per our regular processes.

Alberta institutions

If you have attended a high school or post-secondary institution in Alberta, that participates in ApplyAlberta, the University of Calgary will obtain your transcripts on your behalf. There is no need to send them to us.

If you attend a non-semestered high school (linear) or have taken non-semestered (linear) courses, you can upload your interim grades by March 15.

British Columbia high schools

Transcripts must be requested through the BC Ministry of Education and Child Care’s Student Transcript Service to be sent electronically with the option that allows the post-secondary institution to request updates until September 1.

For non-semester/linear schools, students can submit interim transcripts with their mid year assessment or marks after January 1. Interim transcripts can be uploaded via the Student Centre; documents should include the student’s full name.

Saskatchewan high schools

Transcripts must be requested through the Saskatchewan Ministry of Education to be sent electronically. Please request one transcript as soon as possible, one transcript after January exams and one transcript after June exams so that your application will be evaluated after each term.

If you are attending a non-semester/linear school please also request a transcript through the Saskatchewan Ministry of Education to be sent electronically as soon as possible. Next, please submit interim transcripts with your mid year assessment or marks after January 1. These interim transcripts should be uploaded via the Student Centre; documents should include your full name.

All other Canadian and international institutions

You can upload unofficial transcripts directly to your student centre to begin the admission review process (by the dates and deadlines indicated above). Transcripts can be uploaded each time there is a final grade updated on your transcript. Official transcripts must also be sent from your school or government agency directly to the Admissions Office before the final transcript deadlines.

International applicants seeking admission on the basis of documents which are in a language other than English must submit official documents in the original language as well as English translations prepared by a certified translator.
