Earth Science, as the name implies, is the study of the Earth. It not only involves the study of the materials that make up the Earth, but also the natural and human processes that shape the landscape. Clearly, many of the environmental issues facing our planet are related to the interaction between natural systems and our society. Problem solvers of the future will be required to address both the natural and societal impacts of these problems and their solutions.

The Earth Science Program provides students with a multi-disciplinary approach to studying the Earth. Students in the program are provided with a strong foundation in archaeology, geography, geology, and geophysics. Majors are exposed to extensive field and laboratory experiences. The  Program has a problem-solving focus with the following themes: climate and hydrology, biosphere interactions, global processes and change, earth science techniques.
