President's Advisory Committee on the Status of Women

Terms of Reference

  • Carry out activities relating to women on campus, including recommendations to the President for action.
  • Monitor the results of recommendations previously made to improve the status of women at the university.
  • Support projects undertaken by the Advisor to the President on Women's Issues.

Membership

The committee is appointed by the President, as follows:

  • Four members of the academic staff (one non-teaching), two of whom are nominated by the Faculty Association:

- Janice Braun (Term: May 1, 2011 - April 30, 2013)
- Sandra Hoenle (Term May 1, 2012 - Apr 30, 2014)
- Darren Lund (Term: May 1, 2011 - April 30, 2013)
- Shirley Voyna Wilson (Term: May 1, 2011 - April 30, 2013)

  • Three members of the support staff, two nominated by the Alberta Union of Provincial employees (AUPE), Local 52 and one nominated by Management and Professional Staff (MaPS):

- Cheryle Chagnon-Greyeyes (Term: May 1, 2011 - April 30, 2013)
- Shirley Maki (Term May 1, 2012 - Apr. 30, 2014)
- Barb Murray (Term: May 1, 2011 - April 30, 2013)

  • Three students, two nominated by the Student Legislative Council (SLC) (one male and one female; Women's Resource Centre (WRC) to recommend to SLC one of those nominations) and one nominated by the Graduate Students Association (GSA):

- Matt Diteljan (Term: May 1, 2012 - April 30, 2012)
- Kenya-Jade Pinto (Term: Jan. 27, 2012 - April 30, 2012)
- Melanie Carroll (Term: May 1, 2012 - April 30, 2014)

The Advisor to the President on Women's Issues will be the Chair

A term of office will normally be two years, with approximately half the committee rotating each year. A member may be reappointed by the President.

The committee will be predominantly women but at least two members will be men.
