The
objectives of the SHARP research consortium are to provide necessary
basic data and quantitative mechanistic insights relevant to the
solvent-assisted bitumen recovery processes including the patented
schemes. The intention is not to develop recovery processes
themselves, but to provide basic data and mechanistic understanding
needed for quantitative assessments of any solvent-assisted processes.
We review
our research for member companies each year in a workshop at University
of Calgary and provide members with quick access to the results of our
work. We actively seek to collaborate with member companies on specific
projects. SHARP Consortium typically has six students and two research
associates or post-doctoral fellows. Professor Jalal Abedi directs the SHARP Consortium.
