The University of Calgary’s Research portfolio involves several different units from across campus. With a focus on teamwork across these units, there is an ability to provide expertise to other areas at the university, students, the external community and research partners. This collaboration develops the framework for an enhanced research at the University of Calgary.

The Vice-President (Research) is responsible for the Research Services Office, Postdoc Office, Animal Health (UCARE), Research Stations and Centres and Institutes, combined with support from various other units at the U of C.
Innovate Calgary is a full-service organization offering technology transfer and business incubator services to researchers, entrepreneurs and businesses within the advanced technology sector. Innovate Calgary is the technology-transfer and business-incubation centre for the University of Calgary. Working closely with Research Services and the Office of the Vice-President (Research), Innovate Calgary works to help bridge the gap between discovery and innovation. Both the Vice-President (Research) and the Vice-President (Finance and Services) serve on the Board of Directors.
Research and Trust Accounting (RTA) works closely with units under the Research portfolio, although RTA is officially under the Vice-President (Finance and Services) portfolio.
