How Can You Help?
The Calgary Peace Run is comprised of 5 k runs and walks, as well as 10 k runs and walks—all timed events. We welcome all Calgary runners and walkers. All money raised will be used to fund the programs of Project Ploughshares and the Consortium for Peace Studies, with 25% of all proceeds going to cdpeace in Sierra Leone. All participants are encouraged to ask their friends and families to sponsor their efforts in running or walking to make Calgary an innovative frontrunner in the quest for peaceful solutions to some of the world’s problems. Click here to register as a runner for this event through the Running Room. Children under 12 are free as long as they are accompanied by a paying adult. Wheelchairs, strollers, buggies are welcome.
We need about 50 volunteers on Race Day (Sept 21st) and 10 volunteers this spring and summer of 2013 to work on the Race administration in our office. Volunteers are required in the following positions: Banner set-up around the city, fundraisers, Race Package Distributors, First Aid Station, Water Stations, Cheerleaders, Volunteer Directors, Publicity Director, Race Marshalls, Lead Cyclist, Finish Line, Race Day Announcers, Route Set-Up and Take-Down.
You can pay for the sponsorships online or write a cheque to the University of Calgary or Project Ploughshares. To donate to the Calgary Peace Run, please contact Karen Huggins at 403-270-7366 and email email@example.com
