Biological Sciences Graduate Students' Association (BGSA)

Biological Sciences Graduate Student Association (BGSA)

We represent the graduate students across all four research clusters (Biochemistry, Integrative Cell biology, Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, and Microbiology) in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Calgary.

We encourage students to be involved in both the professional and social life of the department. To do this, we host a variety of social gatherings and seminars throughout the year. Visit our Facebook page for details on upcoming events. If Facebook isn't your thing, there will be posters around Biological Sciences, ads on the TVs, emails sent out and updates in the department newsletter – check out our "Behind the Leaf" section of the newsletter.

Additionally, the BGSA is an advocate for graduate students and works to promote member interests through teaching, coursework and research. We encourage you to contact us about any departmental issues that concern you. If you have something you'd like to share, make sure the president, Jon Lee, knows.

The Biological Science Graduate Students' Association D2L page (which all new students are enrolled in) has Academic Resources, Teaching Resources, Scholarship Opportunities, Announcements from the Graduate Coordinator and information about the BGSA. There are also forms about proposals and defenses.
