The Croatians and Serbs in Canada

Greater numbers of Serbs than Croats came to Canada during this period. The Croats and Serbs were in the unfortunate position of being left stateless at the end of the war. By 1975 close to 108,000 Yugoslav-born immigrants had come to Canada. By the 1960s some Canadians were disillusioned with Yugoslavian refugees because they believed that Yugoslavian refugees included a large number of rootless bachelors dependent on social assistance, many low-skilled persons, and instances of harsh intra-group quarrelling.
