Wait List Information
All Wait List inquiries are handled electronically; by email at waitlist@ucalgary.ca. *please note: due to the high volume of Wait List applications, we do NOT accept telephone inquires regarding our Wait List.
*Please note: we cannot assign applications a number on the wait list. Our centres are always full and spots only come up when a child withdraws. The available spot is not necessarily in the classroom that the withdrawing child left. Internal movement of currently enrolled children must occur first.
On average, applicants spend one to three years on the waiting list before receiving a place at the centre. The wait could be shorter or longer depending on a variety of factors. These factors include your status on the waiting list, your child's birth date, your application date, and the space we have available at the centre.
Due to the high volume of emails, we will try our very best to respond in approximately a one week period. If you are emailing to waitlist@ucalgary.ca please go into your email account setting and attach a 'read receipt' to your message. You will also receive an immediate automatic email response from the Wait List email. An email more specific to your questions will be sent in approximately one week. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
How do I know what Wait List I am on?
If one parent is a student and one parent is faculty/staff, your name is on both lists. If your status has changed since you registered on the waiting list, it is your responsibility to keep us updated. We only have one waiting list, which is for both centres.
How is my spot on the Wait List or my child’s care affected if my status changes and I am no longer a student/staff/faculty?
If your status changes while you are on the Wait List, you will no longer be eligible for a space at UCCC. Because our mandate is to provide optimum childcare services for the children of students, staff and faculty of the University of Calgary, if you are no longer student/ staff/ faculty, you have a three-month period in which to find alternate care.
Can I place my unborn child’s name on the wait list?
Yes. If you choose to do so, it is your FULL responsibility to contact us and provide the child’s name and actual date of birth. You will not be considered for a space at UCCC until we have your child’s official date of birth on file.
