Dr Lichti joined the Department of Geomatics Engineering and the Centre for Bioengineering Research and Education in January 2008. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Survey Engineering from Ryerson University and MSc and PhD degrees in Geomatics Engineering from the University of Calgary. His primary research focus is on the use of optical and range imagery for automated 3D object reconstruction for a variety of applications including bioengineering, structural deformation measurement, fluid mechanics, mineral comminution, cultural heritage recording and industrial measurement. His expertise lies in sensor modelling and calibration, 3D data registration and feature extraction from point cloud data spanning a variety of sensors including digital cameras, airborne laser scanners, terrestrial laser scanners, and range cameras.
