Daniel is a Mitacs Accelerate PhD candidate in the Geomicrobiology Group. He received his B.Sc. in Geography at the University of Sheffield, followed by an M.Sc. in Petroleum Geochemistry at Newcastle University. Whilst working for Applied Petroleum Technology in Norway, Daniel developed an interest in seabed and subsurface microbiology. His research focuses on shallow sediment cores from hydrocarbon prospective areas obtained during 2016 and 2018 expeditions aboard the CCGS Hudson offshore Nova Scotia. Daniel aims to examine the potential for using endospore-forming bacteria in offshore hydrocarbon seep exploration.
