Travel Information
The Calgary International Airport is well served by many international and domestic airlines with non-stop flights from Canada, the U.S. and overseas. Travel from Pacific Rim Countries is via Vancouver from which there are daily flights to Calgary. It is also possible to reach Calgary by car or bus. Calgary has excellent east-west access along the Trans Canada Highway (Highway #1) and north-south access via Highway #2.
Downtown Calgary is about a 20-minute ride from the Calgary International Airport. You can take the "Airporter Bus", a frequently running shuttle bus costing approximately $10.00 one way or $15.00 round trip. A taxi to the Westin Hotel from the Airport will cost approximately $25.00 one way. You will not need a car during the Conference, but if you are renting a car, a few companies located at the Airport or downtown include:
Passport and Visa
Passports are necessary for all visitors entering Canada, except for U.S. citizens who require at a minimum, photo I.D. and a birth certificate. For nationals of some countries, visas are also required. Your travel agent or the Canadian representative in your country can advise on this. Any request for visas should be made well ahead of the Conference.
Language
The official language of the Conference is English. No simultaneous interpretation will be provided.
Goods and Services Tax Refunds for Foreign Visitors
Goods and Services Tax (GST) on goods purchased in Canada may be reclaimed by non-Canadian participants upon return to their own country through completion of a form obtained upon departure from Canada.
Insurance and Liability
ACMBS-IV is not insured to meet any claims arising from any incidents during the Conference. It is the responsibility of delegates and accompanying persons before arriving to be properly and adequately insured for personal injury, sickness, loss of baggage, etc.
