Invitation to Attend

On behalf of the Conference Organizers and the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering, it is our great pleasure to invite you, together with accompanying persons, to join us in Calgary for the 4th International Conference on Advanced Composite Materials in Bridges and Structures, ACMBS-IV.

Since the first such event in 1992, the ACMBS conferences have had a very high standing in the international structural engineering community. This Conference will provide a worldwide state-of-the-art forum with a well-rounded and highly respected list of speakers presenting plenary and contributed papers. Presentations have been selected from over 270 abstracts received from a wide spectrum of the international community of scholars working in the field of advanced composite materials and fibre reinforced polymers. Abstracts have been accepted from 32 countries. They contain a wealth of information on recent research and development, applications and monitoring of advanced composite materials and fibre reinforced polymers in the design, construction and rehabilitation of bridges and other structures.

Calgary is a vibrant multi-cultural city located in the foothills of the magnificent Rocky Mountains. It is a prime destination for experiencing the sophistication of a dynamic urban center and the thrill of a backcountry adventure. The famous Calgary Exhibition and Stampede, held every year in July, attracts more than one million international visitors. This year the ACMBS-IV is scheduled to take place immediately after completion of the Calgary Stampede (July 9-18, 2004) and prior to the 13th World Conference on Earthquake Engineering (August 1-6, 2004) to be held in Vancouver, British Columbia. The proximity of the spectacular resorts of Banff and Lake Louise and the scenic Rocky Mountains will provide you and your companions the opportunity to have an enjoyable holiday before or after the Conference.
