Resources and strategies for a successful term break
term break

With the semester well underway, it can be easy to be swept up in the current of papers, projects and readings. Thankfully, the term break is a chance to step away from the quick pace of daily classes and look out onto what’s upcoming.

The fall term break was added to the 2018–19 calendar in recognition that term breaks are critical aspects of how the university supports students’ wellbeing and good mental health. With that in mind, here are some important resources to consider for the remainder of the semester:

Student Success Centre (SSC)

Exploratory advising

Term break can be a time for reflection. Does my current degree match my goals? Do I want to add to my degree with a minor or an embedded certificate? What are my options? If this sounds familiar, consider meeting with the Student Success Centre’s exploratory advising team to discuss how to add additional value to your degree and find the major that is the right fit for you!

Navigating course challenges

Whether it's unexpected life events, health concerns, or a complex course load, we all experience challenges. If you're struggling and unsure of what resources are available, it's important to know that the university has processes in place to help you get support. This web resource can help you find a clear path forward. The SSC also offers workshops on the same topic. The next Navigating Course Challenges workshop is on Nov. 20.

More workshops and events

During term break, the SSC is in full swing, offering our academic improvement, advising and writing support services to students. Come and visit, talk to an advisor, or sign up for a workshop.
