Parking

Complimentary retiree parking passes are available, on request to Parking and Transportation Services, to:

• all Emeriti;
• faculty/staff with 25 or more years of continuous service to the University of Calgary.

According to the University, such complimentary passes are viewed by Canada Revenue Agency as a taxable benefit. Recipients must take one of two actions:

• Self-declare the value of usage on their personal income tax—a form will be provided annually for permit holders to reconfirm their understanding of this requirement; OR
• Instruct Parking and Transportation Services at the time of permit issuance that a T4 slip is needed—this slip will reflect the full current market value of the annual parking pass.

Note:  The parking privileges of retirees do not pass to the spouse once the retiree is deceased.
