Early Admission for High School Students

What is an Early Admission offer?

An early admission offer is an admission offer that is made before final grades are available for your Grade 12 courses. It is made to students with above average grades and is conditional upon achieving the final admission average established for the program. Transcripts indicating the required average in specified high school courses must be received by August 1, 2012.

Students who are granted Early Admission are able to register during the initial registration period in June.

How do I apply for Early Admission?

If you are in the process of applying or have not yet applied, all you need to do is list the Grade 12 subjects (or acceptable equivalents) which you will complete by the end of June as well as your current and/or final grade on the online application for admission. Make sure that you list all Grade 12 subjects to ensure that you're given full consideration. Please note that Grade 12 subjects that you plan to upgrade in the coming summer term (Summer 2012) cannot be used for Early or Regular Admission.

If you have already submitted your application, you can update this information by logging onto your myUofC portal using the eID and password you created for your application. Click on "Apply for Undergraduate Admission."

What is the deadline to apply for Early Admission?

April 1: Arts (Dance), Engineering, Medicine (BHSc), Science (Neuroscience)
May 1: All other programs

When are Early Admission decisions made?

Decisions are made when sufficient information has been presented on the online application. Decisions may begin as early as December and continue into May.

Please note that the following programs have additional requirements:

  • Medicine (BHSc): Completion of the supplementry application
  • Science (Neuroscience): first term Grade 12 grades

What should I do if I do not receive an offer of Early Admission?

To be reviewed a second time, you should continue to update your course and grade information throughout the year by logging onto your myUofC portal using the eID and password you created for your application. Click on "Apply for Undergraduate Admission."

If you're not granted Early Admission, an admission decision will be made upon the receipt of an official transcript of final grades after your June results are available.
