Out of 150 million babies born each year, 15 million are born preterm. Sadly, 2.6 million of these babies die every year within the first month, often due to human error or infection. Child Health Imprints (CHIL) has created a solution with its data-monitoring technology that helps clinicians make early diagnoses and improve the quality of healthcare for babies.

Preterm babies in a NICU are connected to many different monitoring devices. Each of these captures high quantities of data each day. Using informational and computational technologies like IoT and AI, CHIL’s software captures and analyzes this data to recognize trends, predict complications and give clinicians better information to make critical health decisions. The technology reduces human error and saves lives.

The company began in Singapore in 2018 and has been deployed in hospitals in India, Korea, U.S. and Canada. Within Canada, the technology has been used in hospitals in Toronto and Vancouver. Now with UCeed investment, the founders plan to bring it to Calgary.

“We want to create better health outcomes right at the start of life so that these babies can live long, healthy lives," says founder Harpreet Singh. The company’s innovation has received high praise and attention internationally, including recognition from India's and Singapore’s prime ministers. UCeed investment will help the company continue to grow and expand across Canada and the U.S., so the technology can help more families.
