About:

CCASA provides specialized and individualized services to address the needs of sexual abuse and sexual assault survivors, their significant others, and the broader community. CCASA provides safe, accessible, professional services, for people of all races, abilities, religions, sexual orientations, or genders.

Services:

  • 24 Hour support line
  • Individual specialized counselling: provides crisis intervention and short term counselling for up to 12 weeks for survivors of sexual violence, their friends, and loved ones
  • Group Counselling: offers survivors of sexual abuse and sexual assault support and counselling in a group setting. It is offered in the evening, once a week for two hours, over a twelve-week period. The groups are for either men or women; we do not offer mixed groups
  • Specialized counselling for male survivors: Offers both individual counselling for male sexual violence survivors as well as male group counselling
  • 24-hour Sexual Assault Response Team (SART): This crisis response team provides specialized care to individuals who have been sexually assaulted within the past 72 hours. The service is available through the Sheldon Chumir and the Alberta Children’s Hospital
  • Camp Chief Hector: a weekend of celebration, personal growth, and healing for female survivors of sexual abuse and sexual assault who have attended individual and/or group counselling sessions at CCASA
  • Police and Court Education and Support Program (PACES): provides specialized information, education, and support to past or recent survivors of sexual assault and their families. Exists specifically to support and advocate for survivors as they navigate the legal system
  •  Education: education and preventative programs that address sexual violence and its surrounding issues. These programs will be based on the specific needs of diverse populations existing throughout the Calgary and area
  • Community Outreach Program: builds cooperative and mutually supportive relationships with other groups and organizations to raise awareness of sexual abuse and sexual assault.
  • “Who Do You Tell” Program: a child sexual abuse education program for elementary school children, their teachers and parents
  • The Third Option pilot project: provides recent victims of sexual assault with an additional and compassionate reporting choice – collecting forensic evidence and having it stored for a period of up to one year allowing survivors time to make the reporting decision that is best for them without pressure
