Biography

Dr. Angela Alberga completed her MSc and PhD in Human Kinetics, specializing in Exercise Physiology at the University of Ottawa. She was awarded a Canadian Diabetes Association Doctoral Research Award for her research focused on improving the cardiometabolic health of children and adolescents with obesity through exercise. Alberga is currently funded by the Government of Canada as a Banting CIHR Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Calgary supporting her research aimed to reduce weight bias in health, education and public policy. She is involved in numerous health and wellness committees within and outside of the university setting and is an advocate for community outreach and knowledge translation initiatives promoting active living, health and wellness in community settings.
