4.8.2 BFA in Visual Studies with a Studio Concentration

The designation "Studio Concentration" will appear on the transcripts of Visual Studies Majors who have completed the following courses in fulfillment of their BFA (Visual Studies) degree:

A. FACULTY OF ARTS REQUIREMENTS

Students must adhere to the applicable Faculty of Arts requirements in 3.4 Graduation.

B. MAJOR-FIELD REQUIREMENTS AND NORMAL SEQUENCE

The BFA in Visual Arts with a Studio Concentration requires the successful completion of the following program of study, which includes 13.5 to 16.5 full-course equivalents in the Field of Art:

First Year

Second Year

  • Art 341 and 343 or Art 345 and 347
  • Art 399
  • An additional 1.0 full-course equivalents in studio Art at the 300 level or above.
  • 1.0 full-course equivalents in Art History at the 300 level or above.
  • 0.5 full-course equivalents from the Field of the Fine Arts.
  • 1.0 full-course equivalents in non-Art options.

Third Year

  • Art 461 and 499
  • An additional 1.5 full-course equivalents in studio Art at the 300 or 400 level.
  • 1.0 full-course equivalents in Art History at the 300 level or above. Note: Art History 405 and 407, or 413 and 415, or 301 and 303 are recommended.
  • 0.5 full-course equivalents from the Field of the Fine Arts at the 300 level or above.
  • 1.0 full-course equivalents in non-Art options at the 300 level or above.  Note: Philosophy 333, or Communications Studies 365, or English 302 is recommended.
  • Art 103

Fourth Year
