4.8.1 BFA in Visual Studies

Students may choose to include a Studio Concentration, a Developmental Art Concentration or follow the BFA Visual Studies program without selecting a concentration.

A. FACULTY OF ARTS REQUIREMENTS

Students must adhere to the applicable Faculty of Arts requirements in 3.4 Graduation.

B. MAJOR-FIELD REQUIREMENTS AND NORMAL SEQUENCE

The BFA in Visual Arts requires the successful completion of the following program of study, which includes 9.5 to 16.5 full-course equivalents in the Field of Art:

First Year

Second Year

  • 1.0 full-course equivalents from the Field of Art or Art History at the 300 level or above.
  • 1.0 full-course equivalents from the Field of Art History at the 300 or 400 level. 
  • 0.5 full-course equivalents from the Field of the Fine Arts.
  • 1.0 full-course equivalents in non-Art options.
  • 1.5 full-course equivalents in open options.

Third Year

  • 2.0 full-course equivalents from the Field of Art or Art History at the 300 level or above.
  • 1.0 full-course equivalents from the Field of the Fine Arts at the 300 level or above.
  • 1.0 full-course equivalents in non-Art options at the 300 level or above.
  • 1.0 full-course equivalents in open options at the 300 level or above.
  • Art 103

Fourth Year

  • 2.0 full-course equivalents from the Field of Art or Art History at the 300 level or above.
  • 3.0 full-course equivalents in open options at the 300 level or above.
