A Message from the President

Students today are very savvy consumers of university education. You demand innovative and meaningful academic programs, ongoing support and guidance to help you meet your goals, opportunities to explore your own interests and the chance to develop personal skills outside the classroom.

At the University of Calgary, we are working to ensure that all students are able to engage fully in their education and graduate with the knowledge, experience and expertise needed to be successful in life.

The U of C is the only university in Canada that offers a Graduation Guarantee to help you complete your studies in a timely manner. We've also introduced the Co-Curricular Record, an official recognition of work beyond the classroom, providing our students with a competitive edge when they enter the workforce or apply to graduate school.

Our programs are focused on experiential, or hands-on learning, combining a traditional education with value-added experiences such as undergraduate research and community service learning, which combines classroom learning with volunteer work. This approach to learning shows you how your academic learning relates to societal issues.

The University of Calgary is committed to ensuring that your experience at university is profound and rewarding. Our student awards program is growing, offering even more scholarships and bursaries. And we are improving our counselling and academic planning services to provide you with the help you need to succeed.

We are here to help you learn, to develop and to decide how you will make a difference in the world around you. Welcome, and enjoy the experience.
