This five-year program leads to a Bachelor of Arts in Dance from the Faculty of Arts and a Bachelor of Education from the Werklund School of Education. A minimum of 150 units must be successfully completed.

Students must meet the admissions requirements for both the Faculty of Arts and the Werklund School of Education (see A.5 Undergraduate Admission Requirements).

A. FACULTY OF ARTS REQUIREMENTS FOR COMBINED DEGREES

Students must adhere to the applicable Faculty of Arts requirements in 3.4 Graduation except that students are exempt from the requirement to take 6 units from the Faculty of Science.

The concurrent BA Dance/BEd requires at least 150 units and the successful completion of both degree requirements as outlined below. A maximum of 60 units may be at the junior level.

B. BA Dance Requirements

Dance Courses: a minimum of 54 units to a maximum of 60 units in Courses Constituting the Field of Dance while fulfilling the following requirements:

1. Core Courses 33 units
   • 30 units from Dance 207, 209, 247, 267, 305, 307, 331, 333, 347, 481
   • 3 units from Dance 309, 343, 503

2. 3 units from the following Studio Options
   • Dance 311 or 321, 313 OR 323, 405, 407, 427

3. Dance Pedagogy Concentration Courses
   • 18 units from Dance 235, 359, 363, 447, 449, 493

C. OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• 3 units from the Field of Drama or the Field of Music
• 3 units School of Creative and Performing Arts 499

D. BEd PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

Refer to 4.3 Five-Year BEd (Concurrent) Program in the Werklund School of Education section of the Calendar.

Note: Students in this program must complete Education 201 before they can enter their first year in the Werklund School of Education.
