A. FACULTY OF ARTS REQUIREMENTS
Students must adhere to the applicable Faculty of Arts requirements in 3.4 Graduation.
B. MAJOR FIELD WITH HONOURS REQUIREMENTS
Students must successfully complete a minimum of 9.0 full-course equivalents in the Field of Law and Society while fulfilling the following requirements:
1. Core Courses: 4.0 full-course equivalents including:
(a) Law and Society 201, 203, 335, 337, 413, 415, 591;
(b) One of Political Science 343 or Philosophy 425 or Sociology 429;
2. Courses with a focus on Law and Society: 2.5 full-course equivalents, selected from the list of Courses with a Focus on Law and Society within the Field of Law and Society.
3. Context Courses:1.0 full-course equivalent selected from the list of Context Courses within the Field of Law and Society.
4. Research Methods Requirement: 0.5 full-course equivalent from Communication and Culture 313, Geography 340, History 300, Sociology 313, Political Science 399 or Psychology 312.
5. Interdisciplinary Studies 590.
Notes:
- Most of the courses listed above have prerequisites, many of which are not requirements for Law and Society. It is the student's responsibility to ensure that prerequisites are completed.
- It is strongly recommended that students intending to pursue Honours complete Communication and Culture 301 and 303.
- A thesis must be completed, to the satisfaction of the student's honours supervisor.
- Students are strongly encouraged to take courses pertaining to other languages and cultures and to seek out opportunities to study abroad.
