Bachelor of Arts (BA) Honours in Classical and Early Christian Studies

BA Honours in Classical and Early Christian Studies with Co-operative Education

Introduction

The  BA Honours programs in Classical and Early Christian Studies is offered jointly by the Department of Religious Studies and the Department of Greek and Roman Studies. There is no Minor program or non-Honours BA in Classical and Early Christian Studies. Students considering this Honours BA should consult with the Greek and Roman Advisor or Program Director.

Admission

The Faculty of Arts procedures for Admission to Honours established in section, 3.4.3 Honours Degrees with a Major Field are applicable and provide the overall framework.

Students must have completed 5.0 full course equivalents prior to applying to the Honours program in Classical and Early Christian Studies. The application deadline is May 1.

Recommended First Year Program

In first year, it is recommended that students interested in entering the Honours BA in Classical and Early Christian Studies take Religious Studies 201 and 2.0 full-course equivalents from: Greek 201, 203 and Latin 201, 203.

First year students wishing to eventually enter the Honours BA in Classical and Early Christian Studies may choose to begin their post-secondary studies by declaring a Major in either Greek and Roman Studies or Religious Studies.

Overlapping Programs

Classical and Early Christian Studies programs cannot be taken in conjunction with programs in Greek, Latin, Greek and Roman Studies, Religious Studies or Religious Studies and Applied Ethics. This restriction applies to Major-plus-Minor combinations, Double Majors, Combined Degrees and Second Baccalaureate Degrees. A maximum of 10 full-course equivalents is allowed in any discipline within the Major Field of Classical and Early Christian Studies.

The Field of Classical and Early Christian Studies consists of the following courses:
