Medical Elective Awards

General Information and Policies

Medical Elective Awards are offered to Medicine students who will be participating in a Medical Elective.

  • Eligibility: Medical Elective Awards are for students in the Faculty of Medicine MD program only. Preference will be given to students taking electives between January 1, 2008 and December 31, 2008.  Electives taken prior to January 1, 2008 may not be considered. Medical Elective Awards are based on the eligibility of the elective as it relates to the terms of reference (conditions of the award) and in most cases, financial need. Medical Elective Awards are intended to assist medical students with travel costs associated with their elective
  • Requirements: These awards are conditional upon recipients being registered in the Faculty of Medicine MD Program. Confirmation of completion of elective(s) must be received from the Undergraduate Medical Education office before award payment will be issued. Should the student change the dates or focus of the elective study, they must provide a copy of the change to the Student Awards office as it may affect their eligibility for the award. The elective must normally be a minimum of four weeks, but two, two-week electives back-to-back are acceptable; they do not need to be at the same hospital.
