Workforce perceptions of social work professionalism: What role for social justice?

Summary

This research will provide insight into the assessment of the social work profession within human service organizations and the utility of a professional code of ethics for employers. Those who employ social workers will benefit through participating in discussions that will enhance and expand their understanding of the profession while at the same time contributing to a more clearly delineated understanding of expectations regarding professional social work. This project will enhance congruence between employers’ expectations and workers values leading to role clarity and improved job performance for social workers working in human services and will contribute to job satisfaction and improved worker retention for those who employ social workers.
