Validating Assessment Tool for pain in adult-onset idiopathic dystonia

Summary

Do you have adult-onset idiopathic dystonia and pain?
A better understanding of pain in dystonia is needed to help develop specific treatment options. Our goal is to develop a tool to identify and quantify pain in dystonia.

The study consists of one to three short visits to the Movement Disorders Program, Department of Clinical Neurosciences, University of Calgary.

Eligibility

Currently recruiting participants: Yes

Eligible gender: Male, Female, Transgender, Other

Eligible ages: 18 to 100

Accepts healthy participants: Yes

Inclusion criteria:

Patients with adult-onset idiopathic dystonia are invited to participate

Exclusion criteria:

Patients who can not report pain due to cognitive problems may not be included in this study.
Patients with a diagnosis causing pain unrelated to dystonia (e.g., severe osteoarthritis/arthritis, malignancy).
