Teacher Perceptions of Autonomy
Summary
This study will seek to uncover how teachers perceive levels of professional autonomy and outline how/why professional autonomy is a necessary construct to ensure adequate levels of mental health in teaching professionals.
Eligibility
Eligible gender: Male, Female, Transgender, Other
Eligible ages: 25 to 65
Accepts healthy participants: Yes
Inclusion criteria:
1. Participants will be current or former elementary educators
2. Former educators must have resigned/retired no more than 3 years prior to the commencement of the study
3. Each participant will hold (have held) a full time (1.0) permanent contract teaching position
4. All participants will be selected from multiple Kindergarten- Grade 4 school settings. from all four quadrants of the city of Calgary.
5. Participants may hold (or have held) an administrative position in the school/area to which they are/were assigned
Exclusion criteria:
Ineligible participants include:
1. Educators who have less than 3 years of classroom based teaching experience
2. Educators teaching/who have taught beyond the Grade 4 level
