needs assessment for Postpartum Support in the Cayman Islands

Summary

We are looking for front line care providers (nurses, midwives, physicians) to speak with us in a short (~30 minute) interview.
If you are someone who provides care during pregnancy orthe postpartum in the Cayman Islands, we need your input!

Researchers from the University College of the Cayman Islands and the University of Calgary (Canada) have teamed up to try and understand the experiences of parents and caregivers in the Cayman Islands with the types of support available in pregnancy and after having a new baby.

Our study aims to improve the support and health service experiences of parents in the Cayman Islands in the first few months after birth.

Parenting a new infant is often an extremely busy time that involves changes in sleep, family interactions, daily activities, social life etc. Some parents find it stressful, and can experience challenges with caring for their infants. Some examples of common challenges include feeding difficulties, lack of sleep, isolation, and stress. Our team is partnering with the University College of the Cayman Islands and the Cayman Islands Ministry of Health and Wellness to try and understand the experiences of new parents in order to improve and/or create new services and supports in the Cayman community, to help families through the transitions involved with parenting a new baby.
