How do people with disabilities feel their healthcare providers influence their sport participation?

Summary

Physical activity can improve physical and mental health. Unfortunately, people with physical impairments are often much less active than people without physical impairments. There are many reasons for this, including social perceptions and the built environment. Healthcare providers (such as doctors, nurses, physiotherapists) may also influence how active people with disabilities are.

We will ask twenty athletic people with impaired mobility to take photos answering the question: "What does sport mean to me?" During interviews, we will discuss the photos, sport, disability, and the participants' perceptions of their interactions with their healthcare providers.

The total time involved in this project would be 4 hours.

For participating, you will receive a $15 Tim Horton's gift card. You might learn more about your own experiences with sport and disability. You may also help inform healthcare providers on how to support physical activity for people with disabilities.
