Fostering Violence Prevention and Well-Being for Black Women, Families and Communities

Summary

The purpose of this study is to understand the prevalence and impact of domestic violence in Black communities, and to find strategies for prevention and intervention. Participants will be invited to participate in individual interviews to gain knowledge about domestic violence in Black communities. The data will be used to create a training curriculum to mobilize Black men to take on leadership roles to prevent, and address domestic violence in Black communities. Participation in this study is voluntary and participants may withdraw from the study prior to the conclusion of the focus group. No identifying information will be shared with the public; all information is confidential.

Eligibility

Currently recruiting participants: Yes

Eligible gender: Transgender, Male, Female

Eligible ages: 18 to 80

Accepts healthy participants: Yes

Inclusion criteria:

1. 18 years or older
2. Black community stakeholders (e.g., community members and ethnocultural, faith and youth (etc.) leaders, DV survivors and prevention advocates)
3. Knowledgeable/have experience of domestic violence, prevention, intervention, in Black communities

Exclusion criteria:

Individuals who do not self-identity as Black.
