Faculty Experience of Change when Adapting to a Pedagogy for Hybrid Learning

Summary

This study will explore the faculty experience when changing to hybrid learning mode. Hybrid learning is a deliberate blend of face-to-face and online learning within the same class and can often be called blended learning. The purpose of the study is to examine the experience of change and provide further understanding of the factors influencing the change and to help provide supportive conditions for faculty and good learning environments for students.

Participation in the study is completely voluntary and will consist of an online questionnaire (no more than 20 minutes in length) and a 60-minute online interview conduced over Zoom at a time which convenient to the participant.

Eligibility

Currently recruiting participants: Yes

Eligible gender: Male, Female, Transgender, Other

Eligible ages: 25 to 99

Accepts healthy participants: Yes

Inclusion criteria:

Participants must:
1.Be teaching at a post-secondary institution in Canada
2.Have taught a minimum of 3 hybrid courses with a minimum enrollment of 30 students over 3 terms

Exclusion criteria:

Participants who are not eligible include those:
1.Post-secondary faculty who teach outside of Canada
2.Post-secondary faculty who have not taught a minimum of 3 hybrid courses over 3 terms
3.Post-secondary faculty who have exclusively taught hybrid classes with enrollment of under 30 students
