The Canadian COVID-19 Prospective Cohort Study

Summary

This study is a large, multi-centre, one to three year follow-up of COVID-19 patients who are hospitalized in critical care units (ICU)) and non-hospitalized patients (those who were tested positive and asked to isolate at home). The study will look at short-term outcomes for non-hospitalized patients and longer-term (1, 3, 6, and 12 month) outcomes in ICU patients and their caregivers. Following this time, participants will be invited to continue participation for an 18, 24, 30 and 36 month follow ups.
The study will assess clinical, sociodemographic, genetic, and immunological predictors of patient recovery, and find out whether clinical risk factors (e.g. age, baseline health, socio-demographic status, comorbid illness and some genetic / coagulation risk factors) are predictors of short- and long-term outcomes in patients with COVID-19.
